Cryptography is an indispensable discipline for securing the modern digital society. Cryptography ensures reliable and safe identification, communication and data storage in almost all digital applications. A correct application of this is therefore of great importance. Cryptography is essential in the security of our digital infrastructure and in the current legislation and regulations concerning privacy. The Radboud University is organising, in collaboration with the Dutch Banking Association (NVB), the four-day course Applied Cryptography, a course in which you can increase your knowledge in the field of cryptography.
After completion of the course Applied Cryptography you will:
This course is intended for those who in one way or another come into contact with applications of cryptography, such as managers in the ICT sector, system developers and users, but also security officers, project leaders, IT auditors, information analysts, system designers and application programmers. Affinity and/or experience with technology or application of cryptography is a plus.
In the programme, presentations are alternated with practicals and case studies. Course participants will receive a certificate. For those who want, there is a take-home exam and if the exam result is satisfactory, you will receive the course diploma of applied cryptography.
For this course you will receive 32 CPE (Continuing Professional Education) points. The course will be given in Dutch or English, depending on the composition of the group. The course material is in English. A personal laptop is required for practical assignments.
The course will take place at:
Course dates are 9-10 April 2026 and 16-17 April 2026.
The diploma ceremony will take place on 29 May 2026.
The price for this course is € 3,500 exempt from VAT. For NVB members, the price is € 3,000 exempt from VAT.
Registrations before 1 February will receive an additional 10% discount.

| 15:00 - 17:00 | Keynote Talk: All answers questioned Abstract: Now you have completed the Applied Cryptography Course, you have all the answers you need to apply cryptography in your daily job! Or do you? We'll look back on what you've learned, and see if it makes sense. Be prepared to be amused or confused; the choice is up to you. Bio: Jan Joris Vereijken studied Technical Computing Science at Eindhoven University of Technology, where he earned his PhD in 1997. He currently serves as CTO of Crunchr, an Amsterdam tech scale-up that delivers an industry-leading People Analytics solution—one he encrypted the hell out of. Before Crunchr, he was Chief Security Architect at ING Bank, leading the team that set cryptography standards for all ING units in 40 countries worldwide and overseeing their implementation. Ever since David Chaum let him touch a real Enigma machine as a student, he's been in love with cryptography, and giving it his best to apply it sensibly both at home and at work, sometimes even succeeding. He lives with his wife and two lovely cats in downtown Amsterdam, where you can reach him securely via easily Googled PGP and age encryption keys. |
