About the course

Cryptography is an indispensable building block for the modern digital society.

Cryptography ensures reliable and safe identification, communication and data storage in almost all digital applications. A correct application of this is therefore of great importance. Cryptography is essential in the security of our digital infrastructure and in the current legislation and regulations concerning privacy. The Radboud University is organising, in collaboration with the Dutch Banking Association (NVB), the four-day course Applied Cryptography, a course in which you can increase your knowledge in the field of cryptography.

Learning Objectives of the Applied Cryptography Course

After completion of the course Applied Cryptography you will:

  • have insight into applications of cryptography;
  • be familiar with basic concepts of cryptography and cryptanalysis;
  • have skills in the use of cryptography;
  • be able to make an assessment of key management and authentication systems;
  • be aware of the (im)possibilities of cryptography and the preconditions for its use;
  • understand the technology behind blockchain and gain insight into when blockchain technology can be usefully applied;
  • have insight into the background, recent developments and relevant authorities.

Who is the Applied Cryptography course for?

This course is intended for those who in one way or another come into contact with applications of cryptography, such as managers in the ICT sector, system developers and users, but also security officers, project leaders, IT auditors, information analysts, system designers and application programmers. Affinity and/or experience with technology or application of cryptography is a plus.
